ANNUAL REUNION DINNER

Venue: The Dolphin Hotel, Southampton
Time: 6.30pm for 7.00pm (although facilities to meet and greet will be available in the bar from 6pm)
Cost: £30 per head for a 3-course meal and coffee
Dress: Dinner Jacket or Lounge Suit. Miniature medals may be worn

The Chair of the 2021 Dinner will be David Heatley (1962-68). David was born in Southampton in 1950. At Taunton's 1962 - 69, he witnessed the start of the transition from Grammar School to College. He did not have a particularly high profile, though he did appear as the Emperor in Androcles and the Lion, March 1969. He then went on to the University of Kent at Canterbury, involved with UKC Dramatics, portraying Giles Corey in The Crucible. Read B.A. Politics and History 1972. P.G.C.E. from Southampton University, and taught History at Cowes High School, IoW, where again he trod the boards as The General in Romanoff and Juliet. Also, School Librarian from 1980. He changed direction in 1986, and trained for the C of E ministry at Queen's College, Birmingham. Ordained Deacon in Portsmouth Cathedral, June 1988, Priest 1989, Curate of Liss until 1991, he then returned to the Island as Vicar of Arreton and Newchurch, then moved to be Incumbent of the parishes of Greatham, Empshott, Hawkley and Priors Dean 1999. He was also Portsmouth Diocesan Rural Officer from 1998 until retirement brought his return to Cowes in 2013. Like most retired clergy, he does locum duty from time to time. In regular contact with several OTs, class of 62. Younger brother Robert was also at Taunton's 1964 - 71. Sadly he died in 1998, but David is still close to 3 nephews, 2 great nieces and sister in law. His interests include railways, (could Mr. Lock be responsible for this?), music, particularly opera, and Freemasonry, where he is currently Provincial Grand Chaplain, Province of Hampshire and Isle of Wight.

We are asking OTs to try and get these forms back to us (along with the necessary remittance!) by 16 October 2021 - this will help us enormously in the more detailed planning of this event. A special rate of £75 (single room) and £85 (double room), including full English breakfast, has been arranged for overnight accommodation at the Dolphin Hotel. It is essential to book ahead of the event. The hotel are securing a number of rooms at this rate on our behalf, but please note that these will only be held up to 14 days prior to this event, after which the rates will be subject to availablity. Please ensure that at the time of booking that you quote the code “TAUN131121”, and mention that you are attending the Old Tauntonians' Association Dinner on 13 November 2021. OLD TAUNTONIAN & OLD BOURNEMOUTHIAN GOLF DAY

Wednesday 18 May 2022 at Dibden Golf Course

The golf tournament will be Stableford rules with Full Handicap Allowance - first tee-off at 12 noon. As usual, there will be a "three-in-one" round during which the John Rush Trophy (OTs), The Old Bournemouthian Seniors Trophy (OBs), and the Pomeroys Cup (an overall best score of the day event) will be played for. A 9 Hole event will also be played - but with no prizes. Play will start in the afternoon and be timed to finish in time for an evening meal which will be held at 6.00pm in The Solent Suite. All Old Tauntonian golfers are welcome, whether to play only, play and eat or eat only. Individual notices will be sent to all those who, having recently attended in one of those capacities, are "on the list". Although there are trophies to be won, the day is very relaxed and is not taken too seriously by the majority.

If you have not attended before, come and join us. If you know of any other OT's who might be interested - then please let us know.

OTA Lunch

After the success of 2021, we are pleased to confirm that the 2022 OTA Summer Lunch will be held again at Ampfield Golf Club, located in Ampfield, near Romsey. Timings will be 12 midday for lunch at 1pm. As before, there will be a three-course lunch, plus tea or coffee, with some wine at table included in the price (which is to be confirmed and will be inclusive of staff gratuities).
