SUMMER LUNCH AT KEAT'S RESTAURANT

Keats

Keats Restaurant Ampfield
Date : Wednesday, 23 August 2017
Time: 12 noon for 12.30pm or thereabouts
Venue: Keats Restaurant, Ampfield, Near Romsey
Cost: As close to £25 as can be negotiated per person for a three-course lunch with coffee (all drinks to be at individual cost).

The lunch - as will be known by many of its supporters - is open to Old Tauntonians and their partners, friends (even if those friends attended King Edwards or St Marys). A letter or email will be sent to those who have previously supported the lunch.

The Summer Lunch has proved to be an extremely popular event over the years. Inevitably, time has taken its toll, but it is very much hoped that Tauntonians of all ages, shapes and sizes will come to Keats on 23th August to enjoy good company in an informal atmosphere.

Brian Osman

Brian Osman (1951-58)
The Chairman of the 2017 Dinner will be Brian Osman (1951-58). He says he led a routine journey through Taunton's ending up with a clutch of O and A levels. The overall value of the Taunton's experience did not completely register until later in life. A long-term career in the executive grades of the Civil Service followed. At the age of 51 came early retirement and the latter stages of his working life was spent working in cricket which had been a life-time hobby. He joined Hampshire Cricket working initially as assistant to Tony Baker (1973 Dinner Chairman). This period covered the move from Northlands Road to the Ageas Bowl. Brian has also been a serial supporter of Saints, having seen his first game in 1948. Married to Pam for 56 years, they have a son, daughter and 4 grandchildren. In his younger days, a prominent hobby was walking with friends. Brian has been an active member of Bitterne Church for many years, serving on the Church Council, and is currently the Electoral Roll Officer. In 1973 Brian attended his first reunion dinner and has only missed one since. In 2001 Ted Colenutt suggested (you didn't say no!) he became dinner treasurer and he succeeded Keith Prewett. Increasingly over the years he has undertaken the bulk of the dinner organisation, and 2010 needed a peak effort. In 2016 he was accorded the honour of being made an Honorary Vice President of the Association.
He has been actively involved with his lower 6th form of 1956/57, several of whom still meet up annually for a form reunion.

The Annual Reunion Dinner is open to all past and present members of the School or College. An application form for this function can be viewed by clicking this button (this opens a new window):

Depending on the internet browser you are using, you can download the proforma by right-clicking it, or by pressing a download button (copies will also be distributed to OTA Members with OTA News & Views, and will also be emailed to members for whom we have an email address). We are asking OTs to try and get these forms back to us (along with the necessary remittance!) by 20 October 2017 - this will help us enormously in the more detailed planning of this event. A special rate of £83 (single room) and £93 (double room), including full English breakfast, has been arranged for overnight accommodation at the Dolphin Hotel. It is essential to book ahead of the event. The hotel are securing a number of rooms at this rate on our behalf, but please note that these will only be held up to 28 days prior to this event, after which the rates will be subject to availablity. Please ensure that at the time of booking “attendance at the Old Tauntonians' Association Dinner”, is specifically mentioned and you must use the code OLDT111117. Full details of the hotel, and all its facilities can be found on the website link above.
