 Centenary OTA Dinner 2010 |
We regret to announce the death of John Martin (at school 1944-50). John was extremely proud to be a Tauntonian, and made a significant contribution to the Old Tauntonians’ Association over many years. He first became a member of the OTA Dinner Committee in 1957, and held the appointment of Chairman of the OTA between 1998 and 2006. He was often the Master of Ceremonies at the OTA Annual Reunion Dinner, and was honoured to be the Chairman of this event in 2004. He was the last surviving member of the team that spoke at the Centenary OTA Annual Reunion Dinner in 2010 at the Guildhall in Southampton, held in the 250th anniversary year of the founding of the school. Latterly, he continued his long association with the OTA as a willing and committed member of the OTA Executive Committee. We shall all miss his enthusiasm, wit, and an uncanny ability to speak with erudition at formal events without notes or prompts. He was a remarkable man. The funeral service will be held at St Mary & All Saints Church, Droxford, Hampshire on Friday 9 May 2025 at 11am. The family have requested no flowers – but donations in John’s memory can be made to the Winchester Hospice. |
