(Golf) Triangular Match 2004

The annual golf match between the Old Tauntonians, Old Symondians and Old Edwardians was held at Hockley Golf Club on Tuesday 15 June. The result was a win for the OEs, with the OTs taking second place. The OTs team was: D. Defty, M. Eames, N. Holt, D. Jago, J. Pinchon, J. White, S. Williams and P. Wright.

The scores were: Old Edwardians 9 ½, Old Tauntonians 8, Old Symondians 6 ½

After this year's event Steve White was presented with a memento marking his retirement. The Old Tauntonians' Association was delighted to be able to contribute towards the presentation, which marked a continuous and successful period as organiser, Team Manager, and player going back to the late 1940s.

Perhaps it would have been sweeter if Steve's last match as Team Manager had resulted in a win. However, over a period covering 60 matches, his record as player and manager speaks for itself. Since 1949 and including "occasional" ties, the results are as follows:

Old Tauntonians 34, Old Symondians 16, Old Edwardians 10

There are a handful of Old Tauntonians who, over many years, have given loyal, willing and dedicated service to a number of Tauntonian activities. Steve White is one of those people. On behalf of the footballers, the cricketers, the golfers and the Old Tauntonians' Association, we offer our thanks, Steve, on a job well done and a record of which you can be justly proud.
