Launch of the '100' Club

Following a suggestion by John Zillwood, the Association launched a '100' Club earlier this year.

Membership, which is strictly confined to Old Tauntonians and their spouses, now stands at just over 100 and the proceeds have boosted Association Funds by about £600. This has enabled us to provide awards for the best students in Arts, Science and Social Science, which will be presented by John Martin at the College Celebration Evening in December. We also intend to support a College initiative in setting up a schoolroom in Tanzania.

The first draw was made in July at an Executive Council Meeting by John Martin, and the winner was Peter Newman. The August draw was at Jenny Fitton's Farewell Lunch, when the winner was Ron Goodridge. Alan Cairns and Chris Tomlin were the winners in September and October respectively. The Grand Draw was held at the Annual Reunion Dinner. The lucky winners drawn by Carolyn Tremlett were: Rod Hall £250, John Benyon £100 and David Newton £50. Mrs Angela Turley won the December draw.

We still have room for more members and any one interested should obtain an application form from the Honorary Treasurer (treasurer@ota-southampton.org.uk).

For an annual subscription of £12, participants will be entered in 11 Monthly draws with a prize of £20 and in the Grand Draw, to be held each year at the Annual Reunion Dinner, when the prizes are £250, £100 and £50.
