Old Bournemouthians' Association Dinner 2005

The OBA Dinner, held at the Queens Hotel on Friday 23 September, was something of a special occasion. It celebrated the centenary of the founding of the OBA and the ending, 60 years ago, of the evacuation to Bournemouth of Taunton's School.

Once again, a dozen or so wartime Tauntonian pupils were warmly welcomed guests at the Dinner. To mark the occasion, Jeff White, on behalf of the OTA, presented a gavel to Jim Green, Chairman of the OBA. The beautifully made, cherry wood gavel was the work of Tony Herding (1944–1950).

Alan Cairns (1941–1946), one of the prime movers in the continuing relationship between OTs, Bournemouth School and the OBA, spoke on the links between the two Schools and Associations.
