(Golf) Triangular Match 2006

The annual triangular golf match between the Old Tauntonians, Old Symondians and Old Edwardians took place on Tuesday 13 June at Hockley Golf Club on an overcast summer evening.

The result was a win for the OTs with 9 points, with the OEs on 7 points and the OSs on 7 points.

The Old Tauntonians' team consisted of John White, Mike Earns, James Pinchon, David Jago, David Head, Steve Williams, Harry Tollerfield and David Arnold. Harry Tollerfield, called in as a late substitute, made his 'Triangular Debut' and was successful in obtaining the winning point that secured the trophy for yet another year. Dave Arnold added some experience to the team. He first represented the Old Tauntonians in this event in 1950 and has therefore represented the team for a period of 56 years!!!

Following the match each team was invited to a supper and presentation of the Trophy. Unfortunately, due to ill health, Arthur Bath, (an Old Symondian) who has arranged the triangular match for over fifty years, was unable to attend the match. In his absence, Steve White presented the Trophy.

Guests at the supper included Peter Wainwright, a long standing team supporter, David Pinchon, who played in the match for a number of years, and Steve White, who ran the OTs team for approximately 30 years.
