Tauntonian Visit to Southampton Docks

Thanks to John Slade in his role as Admiral of the Port, Associated British Ports (ABP) very kindly arranged for a party to visit Southampton Docks in the morning of 26 June 2007.

The College party was lead by Paul Daniel, while the OT group included Ted Colenutt, David Bryett, Mike Gould and Jeff White.

We were honoured by being welcomed by Douglas Morrison, Port Director, who gave a really excellent presentation on the Docks, past and future, which captured our attention. His enthusiasm for his job was shared by Beth Evans, Marketing Manager, who lead the group on a fascinating tour of the dock. Beth even made bulk cargo an interesting subject!

In all, an extremely enjoyable visit and our gratitude goes to ABP and John Bathurst for making the arrangements.
