Summer Lunch 2009

This year's Summer Lunch, on Wednesday 12 August at Keat's Restaurant, was much enjoyed by the 60 present. This was particularly so as the occasion was used to mark John (Johnny) Bathurst's 80th Birthday and his impending retirement as Hon. Secretary of the OTA.

After the meal, John Martin, Immediate Past Chairman, said a few words praising Johnny's work for the Association, including organisation of the Summer Lunch, which has become such a successful event. John Martin said that few people really knew the extent of his contribution. Much to Johnny's surprise, Roger Parsons, Chairman of the OTA, then presented him with a Hoggit Port decanter, inscribed with the Taunton's Crest, while Lindy Parsons presented a bouquet to his wife, Kathleen.

Responding, Johnny warmly thanked Roger and John for their words and the Dinner Committee for the exquisite gift.
